David J. Gunkel is an award-winning teacher and internationally recognized scholar in the philosophy of communication, information and communication technology (ICT) ethics, and computer-mediated communication. He is the author of two books on computer technology and ethics: Thinking Otherwise: Philosophy, Communication, Technology (Purdue University Press, 2007) and Hacking Cyberspace (Westview Press, 2001). He has published over 20 scholarly articles in journals of philosophy, communication, computer science, and cultural studies. He is also the managing editor of the International Journal of Zizek Studies. Dr. Gunkel graduated with a PhD in philosophy from DePaul University in 1996 and currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at Northern Illinois University.
