Cervical Radiculopathy

Cervical radiculopathy occurs when nerves in the neck are compressed by other structures, such as herniated discs or bone spurs from arthritic changes. Symptoms include neck pain, pain radiating into the arm and possibly hand, tingling or numbness, and weakness. Physical therapy can relieve pressure on irritated nerve roots through manual therapy techniques including joint mobilization and gentle traction. Massage decreases associated muscle guarding and modalities also help decrease pain and inflammation.
