Headaches

There are a number of different types of headaches and a variety of causes for these headaches. Cervical headaches are headaches that include neck pain, pain at the base of the head, and possibly pain radiating into the eye and temple regions. This type of headache is usually made worse by prolonged flexion of the neck, such as in looking down at a desk to keyboard, read, or write. Driving or other stressful situations may make these tension-type headaches worse. Poor posture aggravates symptoms. Physical therapy can help minimize cervical or tension headaches without the use of medications, or may help to decrease the amount of medication required to manage more severe symptoms. Treatments decrease muscle tension, muscle guarding, and pain and improve posture, range of motion, and strength.
