Sprained Ankle

An ankle sprain is the most common injury to the ankle and usually involves an over-stretch or tearing of the ligaments at the front or lateral side of the joint. This usually occurs when a person rolls their ankle while running or comes down awkwardly or on some object, such as another player's foot in a basketball game. Physical therapy is helpful to control pain and swelling and to help restore normal mobility, strength and balance.
